If he played a position in the field, this wouldn't even be a question. He was such an incredible hitter, but he only DH'd. A lot of voters like more complete players, rather than someone who sits on the bench the whole game while his team is out there in the field. With all that being said, is he a Hall of Famer?

He's got a chance. Even better chance since I've never heard his name mentioned in the same conversation as Roids.
He was actually an excellent shortstop when he was young. Also had great speed on the bases.. But one steal attempt he pushed himself too hard and completely tore his hamstring. So he couldn't run anymore. So he concentrated on hitting. Its just like your senses, if you lose one, the others get heightened. Like, if you go blind, you start to hear better, etc.

The hamstring muscle was completely torn. That's career ending for most athletes.
